Blog Entry: Ah Wednesday, aka volunteer day, I fear your arrival starting every Monday. [br][br] I was feeling sleepy last night so I went to bed way early (for me). I thought I would wake up earlier, but no. I slept 10-11 hours and woke up feeling rested for once. Unfortunately, I woke up to the sound of strange male voices. I had to half get things ready and then dawdled in my room until they left so I could run to the bathroom and get ready to go. I still made it there in time though. I did some reading and writing with the student for the first hour. Then we just talked about various things for about 45 minutes.[br][br] Afterward, I went on an epic journey for a bottle of wine. I killed some time at CVS until it was time for my evening volunteering. I went in and the coordinator wasn't there, so I sat for a while until someone discovered me and called her. I worked on some files, but they had a lot of stuff in them I wasn't sure what to do with. I wasn't getting much accomplished when suddenly...the fire alarm went off! We grabbed our stuff and evacuated the building. Two fire trucks came and they went in to inspect. There obviously wasn't a fire, but they couldn't get the thing to shut off so we were standing out there for a while. A couple of guys said they were going to grab a drink and everyone started following. I wasn't going to stand out there by myself, so I went along. We went down an alley and down some stairs and into a dark bar. My thoughts: "Hmm...it's all men. They're looking at our group funny. Oh look, rainbow flag. They're progressive." *stares around some more* "Ohhh...." I'm so slow sometimes, I swear. So, I ended up in a gay bar. The places life takes you. I didn't have a drink, even though I wanted one. I mostly stared around and answered when people asked me something. I'm such a mute. [br][br] Eventually we had to go back to the building, but since the alarm was still going off, we were told we could just finish up for the night and go home. I cleaned the desk up and got ready to leave. To my horror I saw that everyone was lined up near the door. I would have to go through a tunnel of people to exit. I said goodbye twice, but no one heard me. I was halfway out the door when someone shouted a goodbye and I said goodbye without turning around, so she probably didn't hear me. I do hate myself sometimes. So that was my day.[br][br] Oh, my bathroom haircut received a compliment, so that was nice.
